Blog critiques from a newby

Katherine Esparza

Katherine’s blog has a simple design layout and is full of bright colors. I would like to see a more original title, something besides her name, but I do like that she clearly states the purpose of the blog at the top of the page. One thing that I noticed is that the fonts are not the same throughout the blog and on the most previous post it is very hard to read the first few paragraphs as the font is very small. By adding the picture of her dog at the bottom of the page it adds a personal touch and a great way to interpret “small details” from the design aspect. The content is correct for the audience but I would suggest adding more posts from past class assignments to give the audience more examples of her communication skills.

Robert Brown

Robert has done a good job with the small details and remarkability design elements with all the images he has added to his posts. I particularly like the one with the Survivors wrestling in mud when he is writing about reality TV, which is something that most readers can identify with. His page is easy to navigate and has a nice flow. Two things that caught my eye are the different fonts in each post and the background color behind the posts; the aqua color of the post background and the light blue sky picture clash to me. Having fonts that are the same throughout the page bring a sense of unity and balance and to me it looks more professional. His personal pictures at the bottom are a nice touch and add a more interpersonal element to this virtual communication channel.

Caron Carus

First off, the title “Who Knew?” really caught my attention because of the chosen font; it is brilliant. The color scheme is simple but contrasts enough to create separate areas to focus on. The layout she chose is easy to navigate and I like the personal pictures she added on the right hand side. The font is not the same in all of the posts, and like I said in my other critiques, I think that it looks more professional and balanced when it is the same. There is a large variety of content, which demonstrates to the audience that she is proficient in multiple forms of communication.
